Relentless Optimism
Relentless Optimism
Joshua Searle
Relentless Optimism is a phrase from a conversation between the artist and a gallerist about the challenges of the art world. Searle’s response was ‘don’t worry; I’m relentlessly optimistic’.
This body of work is a process of reflection on various aspects of himself and several of the major themes of his work. It is a collage of recent projects: Stolen Gold, Subtle Protest, self portraiture and the text based works.
Using bright colours and witty text, these works hint at underlying truths and declare fun self proclamations. The artist explores himself in a light-hearted way whilst simultaneously self-affirming his own practice.
